How does the gift experience voucher work?

The Experience
During the winter half you will be met by snow white mountains, darkness, cold, the mythical northern light but also an incredible warmth and hospitality. During the mid winter the temperature sometimes creeps down to – 35 degrees Celsius in northern Sweden. In these extreme conditions the indigenous people of Europe, the Sami people live. When you visit us you will participate in the traditional work of reindeer husbandry, a way of life which is totally steered by the forces of nature and the weather. You will meet Sami people who on a daily basis live in the wilderness and through this they possess an enormous knowledge of nature. A helicopter will take you directly into the mountains where you with the help of snowmobiles will travel into the white vastness of winter. Under the northern light, which is also called the midnight sun, you will try ice fishing. You will also ski smaller distances, if you wish.

Day 1
When you arrive you will be equipped with warm clothes for further travel with dog sled out into the winter pastures. There you will participate in the exclusive job of reindeer herding. Your first night you can spend in a traditional Sami tent, a lavvu, out in the wild. If you prefer to spend your night under roof we can certainly arrange that.

Day 2
A pilot pick you up in the morning to take you to the meeting of your life, a meeting with amazing nature as you have never seen it before. You will travel from the forest areas to mile wide stretches of white vastness. You will land on the mountain border and from there travel with snow mobile into an area without roads. Perhaps we will meet one of the great five predators who live in northern Sweden. The day is ended with delicious food and winter sauna.

Day3
You will be awakened by the wind blowing round the corners of the lovely cabin in the middle of the mountains and served breakfast. We will ski to a fabulous fishing lake about 10 km’s away. On the lake you will catch your own lunch which will be made ready to eat on open fire by your own personal chef. After an appetizing lunch you will be fetched by helicopter and brought back to civilization for further transfer home.

Fascinating Facts

During the cold months of winter, it appears to be an almost magical feeling for those people who visits north of Sweden. If you try to image a lot of snow, a degree way below 0 and reindeers wandering around in, maybe you can understand a little bit what it must be like. Winter in north of Sweden is like a fairytale, and maybe that is why so many folklore myths has their history in north Sweden. The temperature often sinks to about 35 celsius minus and the winter here is the longest in whole Sweden. The lowest temperature that has been scaled in Sweden is amazing 52,6 celsius below 0, in Vuoggatjålme, Lappland year 1966. That is what one can call real winter, don´t you think? The inhabitants who lives in Lappland ( called Samis) are of course, used to the cold and the long winters, and have found many ways to use the winter in purpose to expend the tourism. Today, there is plenty of companies in Lappland who offers dogsled trips, ice fishing, snow scooter trips and a whole lot more. One reason to come and spend a holiday in Swedish Lappland, is the chance to see the famous and yet very mythical Northern Light. This light has for ever been one of the most ascriptional things that the Swedes are very proud of. The northern light is really nothing but the atmosphere around the earth, and the small particles in it, which sometimes collides with each other. This creates a special light, and for those who have witness this spectacular thing, this is a very special moment. One can for sure understand why the inhabitants back in the days used to make up stories about the northern light, and about all the mythical creatures they said was connected to this light. The northern light often changes both color and shape, and many people use to refer to the northern light as a huge snake or dragon, who are dancing over the sky. For the samis up in the north, the northern light is a common thing, but for the inhabitants in middle and south Sweden, this is a phenomena, well worth to discover.
