Day 1 – Dublin:
Board the Grand Hibernian in Dublin. You will be welcomed with a champagne toast in the Observation Car followed by a traditional afternoon tea as the train travels towards Cork. Upon arrival in Cork, enjoy a short walking tour of nearby Cobh with a renowned local historian before venturing to the Cobh Heritage Centre. Later, rejoin the train for the first of many exquisite journeys, followed by coffee and liqueurs.
Day 2 – Cork:
Enjoy breakfast before selecting one of two activities. Either choose a guided walk through the city of Cork and sample Cork delicacies, or choose to head to the world-famous Jameson Distillery for an exclusive tour followed by a tasting. Lunch is served on the train as we travel onwards to Killarney. Enjoy a ride in a traditional jaunting car through the National Park to the beautiful lake by Ross Castle and board the Lily of Killarney boat for a scenic tour. Enjoy some free time exploring the cobbled streets of Killarney before dinner, drinks and fantatsic entertainment on board.
Day 3 – Limerick:
The morning is yours to relax, enjoy glorious countryside from Observation Car or your own cabin as you enjoy breakfast. Once arrived in Limerick, immerse yourself in a part of Ireland that most normally never get to see and discover the art, architecture and sculpture of this secret town. The visit concludes with a unique lunch before heading back to the train for dinner.
Day 4 – Westport:
Enjoy breakfast before arriving in the Georgian town of Westport just before noon. Meet a local guide and be given a tour of this quaint, leafy town. Lunch is served at a local tavern before visiting Westport House, a stately home with rich interiors over 350 years old. Admire the views, take a stroll and perhaps catch a hawk-flying display. After a day spent exploring, it’s time to head back to the train for a gourmet dinner.
Day 5 – Dublin:
The day begins with breakfast before we arrive at Dublin’s docklands for a tour of the Irish Emigration Museum. Return to the train where new passengers are welcomed on board and lunch is served as we head towards Belfast. Here we visit Hilsborough Castle, the official Northern Ireland residence of HM Queen Elizabeth II, where lunch is served in the Drawing Room. Rejoin the train after a glorious day for dinner and drinks.
Day 6 – Kilkenny:
The morning is yours to relax as the train heads towards Waterford. Later that afternoon, explore the historic attractions of Kilkenny such as Butler House nestled in the vibrant city where your guide offers an enticing tour of the Medieval Mile Museum. With any time spare, take a look inside Kilkenny Castle, Canice’s Cathedral or simply stroll the cobbled streets. Later that day it’s time to head back to the Grand Hibernian for your final feast followed by after-dinner entertainment in the Observation Car.
Day 7 – Dublin:
As the train heads back to Dublin, Breakfast is served before your journey concludes.
