You will depart Waverley station in Edinburgh in the morning and the Royal Scotsman will head towards Alnmouth, along the Scotland's east coast to arrive at Alnwick Castle, made famous for its role in the Harry Potter films. This will be the first of four castle and gardens you will get to visit.
The second day of the Glorious and Grand tour aboard the Royal Scotsman will take you along one of the most iconic of railways, the Settle to Carlisle, here you will be able to see the famous arches of the Ribblehead Viaduct. As the scenic journey continues, you will eventually arrive at Chipchase Castle and Gardens, here you will explore the grounds.
Day three of this Scottish luxury train journey will take you to Derwentwater, in the centre of the Lake District, a location that inspired Beatrix Potter's "The Tale of Peter Rabbit". You will take lunch at the home of Lord and Lady Inglewood.

Day 1 – Edinburgh:
Starting in Edinburgh, you are welcomed aboard the Royal Scotsman at Waverley Station. The first location of your journey is a visit to Alnwick Castle. Enjoy drinks and canapes in the castle and take a tour of the gardens with the head gardener. Return to the Royal Scotsman, enjoy an informal dinner and continue south to Scarborough.
Day 2 – Penrith:
Take breakfast on board, why not head to the Observation Car for exceptional views of the Ribblehead Viaduct! Lunch is served early before disembarking to Hexham to visit Chipchase Castle and Gardens. Return to the Royal Scotsman for an informal dinner followed by live music in the Observation Car.
Day 3 – Derentwater:
Visit to Derentwater in the heart of the Lake District. Spend time exploring the location that was the inspiration for Beatrix Potter’s ‘The Tale of Peter Rabbit’. Lunch is served on location at the home of Lord and Lady Inglewood, take a private tour of the Hutton-in-the-Forest estate. The day concludes with an informal dinner on board before the train stables for the night.
Day 4 – Dumfries & Galloway:
The train continues north into Scotland to Dumfries and Galloway, you’ll disembark for a tour of the Garden of Cosmic Speculation, based at the home of landscape architect Charles Jencks. Lunch is served back on board the Royal Scotsman. You will disembark once more in Sanquhar to visit Drumlanrig Castle. Later, we head back to the train for a formal dinner before heading to the Observation Car for a farewell drink.
Day 5 – Edinburgh:
Take a leisurely breakfast as the train returns to Edinburgh where your journey concludes.
