As the journey name suggests you will embark North on this luxury train journey in Scotland aboard the world-famous Royal Scotsman luxury train. It's off to the highlands in unrivalled luxury where you will spend five fantatsic days exploring some of the most magical delights in Scotland. Glide through the glorious Scottish countryside onboard the Royal Scotsman and take in the sights before arriving at Keith, followed by Spean Bridge, Fort William and then the Isle of Bute before returning back to Scotland's capital. This round journey takes you to some of the sights you must see in your lifetime that include Glenfinnan Monument, Mount Stuart and The Royal Yacht Britannia.
After a day’s excursion, you will return back to the Royal Scotsman luxury sleeper train for an evening of fine dining. Indulge on numerous courses, all delicately prepared fresh by the talented onboard chefs, compliment your meal with any drink you desire from a well-stocked bar of complimentary beverages. Sink back into a luxurious armchair, admire the fine authentic Scottish deisgns that make up an unrivalled luxurious environment and watch the Scottish landscape pass by. As day turns to night, retire to your cabin where you are welcomed in by yet more luxurious touches and your very own en suite.
Day 1 – Edinburgh:
Depart from Edinburgh Waverley Station early afternoon, head north towards Perth. Take afternoon tea as the train continues through Perthshire, admire the stunning views of valleys and peaks right outside your window. Leisure time aboard is ideal for settling in to your luxury accommodation and conversing with fellow guests, before an informal dinner later that evening.
Day 2 – Keith:
Visit Rothiemurchus Estate where you are invited to select from a range of outdoor activities including clay pigeon shooting, fishing or a guided tour of the estate with a Park Ranger. Later, enjoy refreshments served in the hunting lodge, learn about this family-run estate. Lunch is served on the Royal Scotsman before you disembark to the Culloden Battlefield for a guided tour from our Highlander. Later we shall travel to the Strathisla Distillery for a tour before returning to the train for a formal dinner. Traditional Scottish music is then offered in the Observation Car.
Day 3 – Spean Bridge:
Enjoy a hearty breakfast, cross the magnificent Forth Railway Bridge, take to the Observation Car and admire the view! Disembark in Edinburgh to visit the Royal Yacht Britannia take a guided tour and a light lunch. Board the Royal Scotsman later that afternoon for afternoon tea as we take in yet more spectacular views before an informal dinner is served on the way to Spean Bridge.
Day 4 – Fort William:
Travelling west, past Ben Nevis and disembark at Arisaig for a stroll along the stunning Morar Sands. Return to the train for lunch as we head towards Fort William. Visit historic Glenfinnan. Cream tea is served at Inverlohy Castle Hotel before returning to Fort William. Passengers have options of a bike through Nevis Gorge if the weather permits. Return to the train to relax before an informal dinner.
Day 5 – Isle of Bute:
More dramatic scenery can be appreciated as we travel west where you board a ferry in Wemyss Bay and head to the Isle of Bute. The island boasts a variety of landscapes and wildlife. Visit the spectacular Victorian Gothic house, Mount Stuart and marvel at the large privately held collection of family portraits. Afternoon tea taken in the Drawing Room, before you can explore the house and gardens. Return to the train for a formal dinner before retiring to the Observation Car for local entertainment.
Day 6 – Edinburgh:
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast as the train returns to Edinburgh where your journey concludes.
