The Royal Scotsman sleeper train is ready for you to take indulgance to the next level, with its unrivalled levels of luxury only found aboard a locomotive of this stature. Prepare yourself, if you can for pure opulence as you meander through the Scottish countryside, visiting some of the most exquisite destinations this remarkable country has to offer. From your departure from Waverley train station in Edinburgh you will head towards past Glenfinnan to Fort William before disembarking at Arisaig for a stroll along Morar Sands. After a delicious lunch, visit Glenfinnan Monument or the beautiful Steall Waterfall in Glen Nevis. The following day we head to the Isle of Bute for a visit to Mount Stuart before returning to Wemyss Bay.
All the while you are treated to the upmost luxury with 24-hour steward service, fine dining beyond imagination, a very well-stocked and varied selection in the bar and sumptuous private quarters that also include an en suite. Indulge in our culinary delights before settling with a nightcap as you listen to the traditional entertainment aboard the night car. Then as darkness falls, retire to your private accommodation, ready to recharge for more adventures the following day.
Day 1 – Edinburgh:
Departing early in the afternoon from Edinburgh Waverley Station, your journey aboard the Belmond Royal Scotsman begins. Making your way to the West Highland Line, head to the Observation Car to take in the stunning scenery or perhaps settle in your luxurious accommodation. A delicious lunch is served in the afternoon where you may catch a glimpse of Loch Lomond. As we continue to head north, enjoy an exceptional dinner before entertainment in the Observation Car.
Day 2 – Glenfinnan:
Take a look out your window and see Ben Nevis pass as we continue west through Fort William. We arrive at Arisaig where we disembark for a leisurely stroll along Morar Sands with it’s marvelous views of the Isle of Skye’s Cuillin Mountains. Lunch is served on board as we make our way back to Fort William and on to Glenfinnan. Our Highlander accompanies you to the Glenfinnan Monument and gives you a vivid history of the area before tea at Inverlochy Castle. Alternatively, guests can choose to hike the Steall Waterfall in Glen Nevis if they wish. Return on board and relax before dinner is served. After dinner, head to the Observation car for a drink and entertainment.
Day 3 – Isle of Bute:
After an exquisite breakfast, we head to the Isle of Bute with it’s rich history and wildlife. A truly unique location with varied landscapes. Guests are treated to a visit to Victorian Gothic house, Mount Stuart, where they marvel over the architecture, grounds and large privately held collection of family portraits. To conclude the day, we head back to Wemyss Bay for a formal dinner on board as we head towards Kilmarnock where the Royal Scotsman stables for the night.
Day 4 – Edinburgh:
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and enjoy the scenery glide by before we return to Edinburgh Waverley Station where your journey concludes.
