The Experience

A Zap Cat is a small light-weight twin-hulled boat with a mighty engine on the back the result is a fast and exciting wave-jumping ride. With your instructor in control you will experience the Zap Cat in action, bouncing off waves and ‘catching some air’ and you will have chance to drive.
Your experience starts with a briefing on safety and handling, then you instructor will take you out onto water and show you exactly what this craft can do, hitting big air jumps wherever possible. Then, depending on the weather and at the instructor's discretion, you may even take the helm, open up the throttle and power out into water.

Vital information

This experience is not suitable for pregnant women or those with a heart or back condition. Minimum age is 16 and the maximum weight is 18 stone.

Session length

This experience will last approximately 2 hours. Please arrive 15 minutes before.

Dress code

Sensible leisure clothes and flat shoes, a towel and a change of clothing is a good idea.

Zap Cats originate from South Africa where since the early 80’s local crews have raced inflatable boats down treacherous rivers and along rugged coastlines. Developed from life saving surf rescue craft for racing and leisure, Zapcats are designed to cope with a huge variety of sea conditions from flat calm lakes to large breaking surf. Since these days, inflatable boat technology and design has come along way, finally evolving into the highly capable, versatile and robust Zapcat.The boats are inflatable catamarans with 50hp engines that reach up to 50mph on the water, but are inherently safe through having protected propellers.

Since its explosive entry into the UK sports market in 2001, Zapcat Racing has seen rapid growth within the sport and has become the world’s largest one-design powerboat series as well as becoming a highly popular leisure craft. The versatility of these feisty little powerboats is one of the many reasons for their success within the UK watersports scene. Not only is Zapcat Racing of the highest standard but also, Zapcats are suitable as cruising vessels, for skiing, paragliding and fishing. Accessible to anyone due to the boats’ affordability and simplicity to maintain and transport, the captivating sport of Zapcat racing attracts many sportsmen and women from the arenas of RIB racing, motorcycling, mountain biking, jet-skiing and even go-karting.

The Zapcat phenomenon continues to go from strengh to strengh with the recent introduction of a UK Youth Racing Series and expansion into Europe. The adrenaline-pumping sport of Zapcat Racing is set to power into France in 2005 as Zapcat Racing has announced a new partnership with Zapcat France, a newly created company, and has revealed plans about its new European direction. Zapcat France now holds the exclusive French license for Zapcat leisure, commercial, and racing sales and with a thrilling new racing championship series also starting in Norway and Sweden this season Zapcat Racing is set to become one of Europe’s fastest growing power sports.
